Frizzy Hair

Humidity and summer showers play havoc with hair as moisture is absorbed by the hair shaft and causes it to frizz.

Fine curly hair tends to look limp and flat in humid conditions whist thicker, curly hair tends to frizz.

To beat the frizz you must use the right products to care and style your hair; have the right cut and if necessary avoid too much chemical processing. The trick is to try and block moisture being absorbed into the hair, so using special anti-frizz shampoos and conditioners is the first step. Try Redken’s Smooth Down range for unruly hair or Fresh Curls for hair that is finer in texture.

If your hair has a tendency to frizz make sure there are no split ends and avoid having too many layers cut in. Remember chemically treated hair can become more porous so tends to absorb more moisture, aim for a few highlights rather than all over colour.

Aim to get your hair as smooth as possible at the start of the day using a good quality large barrelled brush (such as Moroccanoil Brushes) along with anti-frizz styling products designed to help block out moisture and keep the hair shaft smooth. Comb through and leave in Redken’s Detangling Cream and finish tresses with Obedience Balm. John Frieda’s Frizz Ease is another brilliant product.

It’s always best to try and avoid touching hair. If the weather turns humid spritz with Redken’s Anti-Frizz Shiner to give hair extra protection.

If you have curly or fine hair and the weather forecast looks set for rain and humidity avoid complex styles. Be ahead of the trends by copying one of the hottest looks - slicked back, sleek looks were seen at lots of shows recently, so smooth hair down with lots of Obedience Balm and pull hair into a low pony tail, smooth the ends with lots of product.
